One photo is enough. It enters the Media node and leaves it twice: one Image node ages it by twenty years, another by forty, each driven by its own instruction. Both portraits sit side by side with the original, and that immediate comparison is the whole point of the canvas.

The result comes down entirely to the lock written into the instruction. Skin, hair and the shape of the jaw change, nothing else: Flux Kontext is an editing model, it retouches your photo instead of inventing a new one. The moment it is allowed to touch the features, the pose or the background, it returns a different old person, believable but a stranger, and you do not recognise yourself.

The video is where the effect really lands: your photo today becomes the first frame, the portrait at forty the last, and Kling V3 computes the ageing between the two. Five seconds in vertical 1080p, ready to publish, for just over a dollar for the whole run.

How it works

    Import your photo

    A sharp face, front on or three quarters, in clear light. The Media node takes a phone photo: what matters is how sharp the face is, not the resolution.

    Read the two instructions

    They are already written: fine lines, light folds and grey at the temples for the plus twenty; drooping eyelids, age spots and white hair for the plus forty. The second half of each instruction locks everything else, do not delete it.

    Generate both portraits

    The two Image nodes run in parallel. Compare each render with the original right next to it: if the person has changed nose or hairstyle, the lock is what needs reinforcing, not the model that needs swapping.

    Run the ageing video

    Your photo and the portrait at forty bracket five seconds where the face ages on screen. Native vertical format, so it publishes as is to Reels, Shorts or TikTok.

Seeing yourself in twenty years only

The plus twenty is often the more unsettling of the two: close enough to be believable, far enough to surprise. Simply unplug the plus forty node, or keep both and use the plus twenty as the video's last frame for a gentler ageing.

Ageing a couple or a family photo

The workflow accepts a photo with several faces, as long as the instruction says so: age every person by the same span, without changing positions or clothes. A face at the back, blurred or in profile, will age badly; crop to the two or three people who matter instead.

Seeing yourself with white hair

The question is often that one and nothing else: would white suit me. Cut the instruction down to the hair, fully grey then white while keeping the same cut and the same parting, and leave the skin alone. The render works as a test before an actual trip to the hairdresser.

Making a face younger instead of older

The same workflow runs backwards: firmer skin, lines erased, fuller hair, a rounder jawline. Keep the second half of the instruction, the part that locks the features, otherwise the model does not make the person younger, it builds a different one.

Ageing a fictional character or an avatar

A generated character works as well as a photo. It is the logical next step after a consistent character: the same figure at three ages, enough to carry a comic or a trailer that spans a life.

Vertical format for TikTok and Reels

The whole workflow is native 9:16, images included. That is deliberate: ageing reads on a face that fills the frame, and a cropped 16:9 cuts off the top of the head, exactly where grey hair shows most.

Common mistakes

Starting from a blurred or profile photo

The model can only age what it sees. On a strict profile it invents the hidden half of the face, and the render stops looking like anyone. Both eyes visible, a sharp face, light that does not wash out the features: the rest follows.

Deleting the end of the instruction

The most common mistake. The list of things not to change reads like padding, and yet it is what makes the result. Without it the model changes the hairstyle, the background and the angle, and returns a generic old person instead of you.

Asking for both ages in a single instruction

One Image node produces one image. Age this person by twenty then forty years returns a single photo at an undecided age. That is why there are two separate nodes, and it also lets you regenerate just one of them.

Swapping the video frames

Today's photo goes to the image input, the portrait at forty to the end image input. Swapped, they produce a de-ageing, which is a nice effect but not the advertised one. Check both cables before launching the video generation, it is the most expensive step of the workflow.

Frequently asked questions

Does the render actually look like me?

That is the entire job of the instruction, which explicitly locks the features, the shape of the nose, the eyes, the ears, the hairstyle and the framing. The canvas keeps the original next to the render: the comparison takes one glance, and a render that drifts shows immediately.

Can I go younger instead of older?

Yes, the instruction is yours to rewrite. Reverse what it asks for, firmer skin, fuller hair, lines erased, and keep the second half that locks the rest. That lock is the difference between a younger you and a stranger.

Does the photo have to be front on?

Front on or three quarters, with both eyes visible. A strict profile or a face half in shadow gives the model too little to work from, and it fills the gaps by inventing.

What does a full run cost?

Just over a dollar for both portraits and the five-second 1080p video. The exact price shows on each node before you click, and the two images alone cost a few cents if you do not want the video.

Are my photos used to train a model?

No. Your media stays in your workspace, it is not handed to any training run. That is the difference with most free ageing apps, whose business model is precisely the photo you upload.

Can I do this from my phone?

How is this different from the ageing filters in apps?

A filter applies the same wrinkle mask to everyone, always in the same place. Here the instruction describes the ageing and an editing model applies it to your face, respecting its shape. And you can rewrite it, which no filter allows.

Can I age by more than forty years?

Yes, by editing the instruction, but the render quickly becomes a caricature of an old person rather than a believable projection. Past forty years, chaining two runs of twenty beats asking for sixty at once.
