Descript has a brilliant, well-executed idea: you edit a video by editing its text. Delete a sentence in the transcript and the matching footage goes. For a podcast or an interview, the time saved is real.
Since late 2025 the pricing counts two things: media minutes and AI credits. Free with 60 minutes and 100 credits, Hobbyist at $24 a month, Creator at $35, Business at $65, with up to 35% off annually. Picking a plan means estimating two separate consumptions.
Imaginode edits nothing: it manufactures. One meter, the credit at $0.012, covering image, video, text and voice, with the price shown before every generation. The two tools sit at opposite ends of the chain.

Frequently asked questions
Does Descript generate video?
Marginally. Its core is transcript editing, dressing and audio correction.
How do I pick a Descript plan?
By estimating two things: your volume of media minutes and your use of AI features, counted separately since late 2025.
What is the sequence for a full video?
Generate the shots at Imaginode, edit and fix the audio at Descript.
Is Imaginode a good alternative to Descript?
Yes if you need shots made from nothing, want one readable meter and several video models to pick from. If you edit podcasts, interviews or tutorials, need voice cloning to fix a sentence, or work as a team on long audio projects, Descript stays the better tool.
