Generate images with Flux 3

Flux 3 is Black Forest Labs' new image model, released on October 1, 2026, and the first Flux to render natively in 2K and 4K. It holds a precise layout, places each element where the prompt asks and writes a readable title or tagline into the image, which makes it a strong choice for posters, covers and brand visuals. Connect up to six images to the node and it switches to editing, composing from your references, a product, a character or a set. Use 1K to explore and 4K to deliver.

Capabilities

  • Edits existing images and takes visual references

Flux 3, what changes

Flux 3 was released on October 1, 2026 by Black Forest Labs, the team behind Flux 1 and 2. It is the first Flux to render natively in 2K and 4K, with no upscaling afterwards: an image 4096 pixels wide comes straight out of the model. It also gains layout control, each element lands where the prompt describes it, and text rendering, a title or tagline is written legibly into the image.

On Imaginode, it arrives three days after release, in the same canvas as the other image, video and voice models. You pick the tier in the node, 1K to explore an idea, 2K for a web visual, 4K for print or a poster, and the exact price of each tier shows before you generate.

Editing from your references

Connect an image to the node and Flux 3 switches to editing: it retouches, changes the season, the lighting or the set, while keeping the subject. With several images, up to six on the canvas, it composes from each one, the product from the first in the set of the second, a character in a scene. Very large references are scaled down automatically below the provider's limit, with nothing to set.

The format follows your choice, from square to vertical 9:16; with no format set, editing keeps the first image's. Input images are not billed: only the size of the image produced counts.

When to choose it over another model

Flux 3 is the right choice whenever composition matters: a poster with its title, a cover, a packshot placed exactly where it belongs, a brand visual to roll out. For very long text or an interface mock-up, GPT Image 2.5 remains safer; to keep a face from one image to the next, Nano Banana Pro holds the likeness better.

4K is slower, about a minute and a half, and clearly more expensive: keep it for the final version. Flux 2 Max and Flux 2 Pro remain in the catalog for those who adopted them, but Flux 3 is now the Flux to try first.

Frequently asked questions

Is Flux 3 available without a Black Forest Labs subscription?

Yes. On Imaginode, each image is paid with your credits, with no API key or subscription at the publisher, and the price of the chosen tier shows on the button before you generate.

Does Flux 3 write readable text in the image?

Yes, it is one of its improvements: a short title in quotes in the prompt comes out sharp and correctly spelled, checked on a poster on October 4, 2026. For a full paragraph, GPT Image 2.5 remains more reliable.

How much does an image generated with Flux 3 cost?

7 credits per image, about $0.08 (1 credit = $0.012). The exact cost shows on the Generate button before you click, and any failed generation is refunded automatically within seconds.

Can Flux 3 edit an existing image?

Yes: Flux 3 accepts an input image. On the Imaginode canvas, wire an image node or an uploaded photo, describe the change, and the model starts from your visual instead of generating from scratch.

Can I try Flux 3 for free?

Yes: signing up grants trial credits, no credit card required. Enough to test Flux 3 in real conditions before deciding on a plan or a top-up.

Do I need to install anything to use Flux 3?

No: Flux 3 runs server-side, in the browser, mobile included. Imaginode's node canvas wires its renders to the other models (references, camera, styles) with nothing to install.
