Generate images with Flux 3 Klein
Flux 3 Klein is the compact version of Flux 3, released by Black Forest Labs on October 15, 2026: 5.6 billion parameters, open weights, and the same way of working as its big brother. It renders in native 1K, 2K or 4K, follows the format you ask for and edits an image from up to six references, a product, a face or a set. A 1K image comes out in five to eight seconds, for much less than Flux 3, especially in 4K. It is the model for looking for a composition, building a series or producing in volume, and you can always run the image you keep through Flux 3 if it needs more detail.
Capabilities
- Edits existing images and takes visual references
- Resolutions: 1K, 2K, 4K
Flux 3, compact edition
Flux 3 Klein was released on October 15, 2026, two weeks after Flux 3. Black Forest Labs cut it down to 5.6 billion parameters and published its weights, but it keeps what defines the family: text-to-image, editing from reference images, and three native resolution tiers, 1K, 2K and 4K.
In our tests on October 21, 2026, a 1K image came out in five to eight seconds, in the format requested, from square to 16:9. A shop sign written in the prompt came out readable and correctly spelled. 4K takes more patience, around a minute and a half, and delivers an image 5,456 pixels wide.
Klein or Flux 3?
Flux 3 is the full model of the family, with many more parameters. Klein costs much less, with the gap growing at higher resolutions, and it answers faster. A good habit: explore on Klein, compare ten variations, then run the image you keep through Flux 3 with the same prompt if it has to be delivered large.
For editing, connect up to six images to the node: a product, a face, a set. The tier you choose also applies to the edited image, so neither the size nor the price surprises you, and the format follows the first reference unless you set one.

Frequently asked questions
Is Flux 3 Klein free since its weights are open?
The weights are public, but you need a machine to run them. On Imaginode it runs on the provider's servers: you pay for the image in credits, at the price shown before you launch, with nothing to install.
Can it edit a photo of a person?
Yes. Tested on October 21, 2026 with a portrait: the face stays recognizable and only the instruction changes, here an added scarf.
How much does an image generated with Flux 3 Klein cost?
2 credits per image, about $0.02 (1 credit = $0.012). The exact cost shows on the Generate button before you click, and any failed generation is refunded automatically within seconds.
Can Flux 3 Klein edit an existing image?
Yes: Flux 3 Klein accepts an input image. On the Imaginode canvas, wire an image node or an uploaded photo, describe the change, and the model starts from your visual instead of generating from scratch.
Can I try Flux 3 Klein for free?
Yes: signing up grants trial credits, no credit card required. Enough to test Flux 3 Klein in real conditions before deciding on a plan or a top-up.
Do I need to install anything to use Flux 3 Klein?
No: Flux 3 Klein runs server-side, in the browser, mobile included. Imaginode's node canvas wires its renders to the other models (references, camera, styles) with nothing to install.
