Krea vs Magnific (ex Freepik): which AI suite in 2026?

Krea vs Magnific: the short answer
Pick Krea if you want fast generation billed monthly in dollars, with real-time rendering, 3D and your own trained styles; pick Magnific if you want a yearly suite with 250 million stock assets, a canvas built for teams and an unlimited mode from Premium+ up.
The automated comparison sites at the top of this search still pit Krea against the old standalone Magnific upscaler at $39 a month. That plan is gone in that form. On April 28, 2026, Freepik renamed its whole platform Magnific: generators, Spaces, the stock library and the upscaler. So Krea vs Magnific now means two full creative suites, each with its own node canvas.
Disclosure: you are reading this on the Imaginode blog. Imaginode is Frank Houbre's tool, and it is a node canvas too, which makes it a competitor to both Krea and Magnific. We will also tell you what these two do that Imaginode doesn't.
Magnific is no longer just an upscaler
Magnific now names the entire former Freepik suite, and it even offers Krea 2, Krea's own image model.
Magnific AI launched in 2023 as an upscaler that invents detail. Freepik bought it in 2024, then took its name for the whole company in spring 2026, as The Next Web reported. freepik.com and magnific.ai now redirect to magnific.com, and there is a single pricing grid for everything.
Krea is a US startup that claims more than 40 million creators. It sells a suite of 20+ tools: image and video generation, real-time rendering as you draw, 3D objects, text-based editing, upscaling, LoRA training and a node editor.
Here is the twist: Magnific hosts Krea 2, Krea's in-house model, in Medium and Large, with up to 4 reference images and moodboard reading. If that model is what you are after, you can use it without a Krea subscription. Krea keeps Krea 3, its newest model, and real-time rendering to itself.

Pricing: monthly units at Krea, yearly credits at Magnific
Krea refills units every month and sells top-up packs that expire after 90 days; Magnific grants a year's worth of credits, with an unlimited mode from Premium+.
Krea has four plans for individuals: Free, Basic ($9 a month, 5,000 units), Pro ($35, 20,000 units) and Max ($105, 60,000 units). Yearly billing takes 40% off, so $5.25, $21 and $63 a month. The cards translate units into output: about 112 Nano Banana 2 images or 15 Seedance 2.0 Fast videos on Basic, 450 images or about 65 Seedance 2.5 videos on Pro. Seedance 2.5 needs Pro or above.
Magnific has three plans for a single user: Premium (€16 a month, €12 billed yearly, 240,000 credits a year), Premium+ (€36, €27, 600,000 credits) and Pro Starter (€88, €66, 1.5 million credits, or 4 million with Nano Banana Pro). All of them include Spaces, the stock library, the Magnific upscalers and a commercial AI license. The page promises a 30-day refund guarantee.
A rough comparison, which is our own math and not a test: on yearly billing, Krea Pro costs $252 a year for about 65 Seedance 2.5 videos a month, roughly 780 a year, though the card gives no length or resolution. Magnific Premium+ costs €324 a year before VAT, and its grid lists 340 Seedance 2.5 videos of 4 seconds at 720p over the year. The settings differ, so the two figures don't line up one to one.
What your credits are worth three months from now
Credit lifetime is where the two grids differ most, and both pages leave gray areas.
Krea sells one-off unit packs (2,000 to 50,000) that last 90 days, and their prices only show once you are logged in. The page itself suggests upgrading your plan rather than buying packs. One Trustpilot review describes a refund refused after buying units, and a third-party review finds the unit system hard to budget around.
Magnific says on every card that credits last a year with no monthly resets. Its FAQ, read on October 21, says the opposite for monthly billing: credits reset every month. The Premium card offers top-ups "anytime", while the same FAQ limits extra credit purchases to Premium+ and Pro. As for unlimited, the FAQ explains that after a priority share, generations run one at a time, and several models go back to credits at renewal. We cover both contradictions in our Magnific Spaces review.
Free plans: which one lets you actually try it?
Krea gives you 100 units a day; Magnific gives daily quotas tool by tool and three boards in Spaces.
Krea's free plan refills daily but stays narrow: one image at a time, no parallel video, and no Seedance. According to the detailed grid we read on October 26, the free plan includes neither a commercial license nor Krea Nodes, which starts at Basic.
Magnific doesn't put a free plan on its grid, but a free account exists. Its documentation lists daily quotas: 20 images with the Classic Fast or Flux Fast models, 3 Reimagine edits, 1 background removal. The Spaces FAQ allows up to 3 boards without paying. To try a node canvas, Magnific lets you go further. To generate a little every day, Krea is simpler.
Inside the canvas: Krea Nodes or Magnific Spaces
Krea Nodes is about turning a chain of models into a small app; Spaces is about several people working on the same board.
Krea calls Nodes "the most powerful way to operate Krea": you chain tools and models into automated pipelines. The editor has Projects, Apps, Examples and Templates tabs, and App Builder turns a workflow into a shareable app, from the Pro plan according to our October 26 reading. Team work goes through the Business plan ($160 a month billed yearly), which shares those apps in a common workspace.
Spaces is billed as a node canvas "for real-time collaborative creation": you invite teammates in one click, everyone sees each other's cursors and leaves feedback on the board. Template boards built by Magnific's Creative Partners give you a starting point, and Spaces comes with Premium. For a small team that wants one seat each and a shared board, Spaces starts ahead.
Upscaling: Krea Enhancer vs the heir of Magnific AI
On paper Krea goes higher in resolution; Magnific keeps its upscaling pedigree and adds Topaz from Premium+.
Krea's Enhancer upscales images up to 22K and videos up to 8K, adding detail along the way. The pricing page says several upscaling models are available, Topaz among them.
Magnific advertises upscaling up to 16x with its Classic and Magnific models, keeping the original structure, framing and lighting. The Magnific image and video upscalers come with every plan, and Topaz joins from Premium+. If upscaling is all you need, also read our ranking of the best AI image upscalers and our guide to faithful vs creative upscaling: for a single job, neither Krea nor Magnific is automatically the best pick.
Models and extras: real-time and 3D vs stock and brand kits
The catalogs overlap a lot: Nano Banana 2, Seedance 2.5, Kling, Veo 3.1 and Wan 3.0 are on both sides. The extras are where they part ways. Krea has real-time rendering as you draw, 3D objects from text or an image, LoRA training (up to 50 images, 2,000 on Max) and its Krea 3 model. Magnific has its library of 250 million+ photos, videos and vectors, its Magnific One model with Brand Kit to follow a visual identity, music, voice and sound effect generation, and a ComfyUI connector.
Public reviews show friction on both sides. Krea scored 3.6 on Trustpilot from 177 reviews on October 26, with complaints about a yearly plan that was hard to cancel and slow support. Magnific scored 4.0 from 3,220 reviews on October 21, with complaints about unlimited mode slowing down past a threshold and about billing during the rebrand.
Pick Krea if, pick Magnific if
Pick Krea if you work alone, like watching the image form while you sketch, want to train your own styles or generate 3D, and prefer monthly billing in dollars. Basic billed yearly, at $5.25 a month, is the cheaper way in.
Pick Magnific if you need stock visuals next to AI, produce with others on one board, want brand guidelines applied to your images, or generate lots of simple images and the Premium+ unlimited mode covers you. Yearly billing fits a studio budget well.
Either way, read the FAQ before paying for a year: credit lifetime, unlimited terms and refunds are not worded the same on the cards and in the FAQ.
Where does Imaginode fit?
Imaginode, Frank's tool, is a third option for solo creators who want monthly billing and the cost of every generation shown before they click.
Reminder: this is our product, so read this part with that in mind. Imaginode has no real-time rendering, no stock library, no team plan and no in-house model like Krea 3 or Magnific One. On those points Krea and Magnific are ahead.
On the other hand, Starter costs $17 a month before tax for 900 credits, and every plan unlocks all 129 models, video and Topaz upscaling included. Each node shows its cost before generating, a failed generation is refunded in credits automatically, and top-ups never expire. The free tier is the shortest of the three: your first 3 images, no card required. Our Imaginode vs Krea and Imaginode vs Magnific pages go deeper, and our pick of the best AI workflow tools puts all three in context.

How we analysed this
We did not use a Krea or Magnific account and generated nothing: this comparison involves no hands-on test. On October 27, 2026, logged out, we read and captured both pricing pages (yearly billing is the default tab), Krea's Node Editor and Enhancer, and Magnific's Spaces, Krea 2 and AI Image Upscaler pages. Cookie banners were declined.
Krea's detailed comparison grid (commercial license on the free plan, access to Nodes and App Builder) is drawn with icons our capture does not keep, so those points come from our reading of the same page the day before, October 26. Magnific's free-tier limits come from its documentation and the Spaces FAQ, read on October 16. Trustpilot scores are dated where we quote them. Any math built on vendor figures is flagged as ours. Imaginode prices come from imaginode.ai/en/pricing, checked on October 27.
