Nothing is uploaded: everything happens in your browser

An image saved from a website often comes as WebP, which some apps, printers and platforms refuse. Converting it to JPG makes it usable everywhere. If the WebP has a transparent area, it is placed on a white background, or on the color of your choice in the settings.

How to convert WebP to JPG

  1. 1Drop your WebP files in the box, or click to pick them. You can add several at once.
  2. 2JPG is already selected. Open the settings if you want to change the quality, the size or the background.
  3. 3Download each file, or everything at once as a .zip. Nothing was uploaded: the conversion happened on your device.

The formats

WebP

Google's image format, widely used by websites to load faster. At equal quality it weighs about a third less than a JPG, and it supports transparency and animation. Some older software and a few platforms still do not accept it.

JPG

The universal photo format. It compresses with loss, which gives light files that open everywhere: browsers, phones, software, printers. It has no transparency, and each new save loses a little quality.

Your files stay with you

The conversion runs in your browser, with your device's decoders. No file is uploaded, no copy is kept, and nobody but you sees your photos or videos. You can check it in the Network tab of your browser's developer tools: none of your files goes out.

Frequently asked questions

What about an animated WebP?

A JPG does not move: only the first frame is kept. To keep the animation, convert to GIF or video instead, with an app that reads animated WebP.

Does the quality drop?

At quality 90, the default setting, the difference is invisible. The JPG usually weighs a little more than the original WebP: that is the price of compatibility.

Is the converter really free?

Yes, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on the number of files. The conversion runs on your device and costs us nothing, so there is nothing to charge you for.

Are my files sent anywhere?

No. They are read and converted in your browser, then saved straight to your device. No server receives them.

Is there a maximum size?

The limit is your device's memory. Photos and audio files go through without trouble; for a video of several gigabytes, a computer does better than a phone.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes, on iPhone and Android, in Safari, Chrome or Firefox. For video, an up-to-date browser is needed: it provides the decoders being used.
