Microsoft's image model
MAI-Image 2.6 was released on October 13, 2026 by Microsoft AI, the team that also builds the MAI-Voice models. It is a diffusion model with two jobs: creating an image from a description, and precisely editing an existing one. Microsoft highlights surgical edits, the kind that change one object, a line of text or a layout without touching the rest, and fixing defects such as motion blur.
On Imaginode it arrived two days after release, in the same canvas as the video and voice models. The format follows your setting, from square to 16:9, through 4:3 and portrait, at around one megapixel (1360 x 768 in 16:9). The price shows on the button before you generate.
Editing from your images
Wire up to five images into the node and describe the change in plain words: the bottle from the first photo placed in the scene of the second, a scarf added to a portrait, a shop window turned to winter. In our tests on October 15, 2026, a portrait's face stayed recognizable after an accessory was added, and the requested sign, "OPEN LATE", came out spelled correctly.
Beyond five images, the node keeps the first five and tells you so: the model rejects a sixth. Input images are sent scaled down to 1024 pixels on the long side, which is plenty for a one-megapixel render and keeps the price stable.
