Meshy is a platform built for generative 3D: text to 3D, image to 3D, multi-image input, texturing up to 8K, remeshing, auto-rigging and animations, with an API and in-house models, Meshy 7.1 being the latest in its docs. For a game studio or someone who lives in Blender, it is a production tool covering the whole chain.

Its pricing runs on monthly credits: 100 free under a CC BY 4.0 licence, which means attribution, then Pro at $20 for 1,000 credits, Premium at $40 for 3,000, Ultra at $100 for 8,000, and a Studio team plan at $70 per seat. An image-to-3D generation uses 20 credits without texture and 30 with 2K textures, according to the API docs.

Imaginode does less in 3D, and says so: two image-to-3D models, Trellis 2 and Tripo 2.5, each returning a textured GLB for 42 credits. No direct text to 3D, no rigging, no mesh animation. The value sits elsewhere: the source image is generated on the same canvas, the object spins and gets captured inside the node, its turntable video feeds Kling or Seedance as a reference, and 3D Previz lets you block a scene and film it.

When to choose Meshy

  • 3D is your job: text to 3D, fine texturing, remeshing and rigging are part of your pipeline.
  • You need to animate 3D characters or export them game-engine ready.
  • You build 3D generation into your own software through an API.

When to choose Imaginode

  • Your 3D object serves an image or a video: a spinning product, a prop to drop into a shot.
  • You want to generate the source image and the object in one project, for example with the image to 3D template.
  • You make 3D a few times a month and do not want a subscription for it.
  • You want to block a scene and film it with 3D Previz before running a video model.
  • You want commercial rights without moving to a paid plan.

Frequently asked questions

Is Imaginode a good Meshy alternative?

To turn an image into a textured 3D object and use it in visuals or videos, yes. For full 3D production, text to 3D, rigging, animation, remeshing, no: Meshy covers those steps and Imaginode does not.

Can I start from text in Imaginode?

In two steps: an image model generates the object on a plain background, then Trellis 2 or Tripo 2.5 turns it into 3D. With Flux Schnell at 1 credit, the source image costs next to nothing.

What is the difference between Trellis 2 and Tripo 2.5?

Trellis 2 goes for fine volume detail, in three resolutions. Tripo 2.5 favours clean surfaces and PBR materials that are easier to rework in 3D software. Both cost 42 credits.

Can Meshy's free plan be used commercially?

Yes, under CC BY 4.0, which requires attribution, according to Meshy's help centre checked on 26 September 2026. The private licence starts on Pro.
