Moonvalley alternatives: what to use now that Marey is studio-only

Moonvalley retired its subscriptions and now only works with studios. Five alternatives for licensed training data, motion control and a fair price per shot.

If you're looking for a Moonvalley alternative, odds are it's because you can't subscribe anymore. Its notice page, checked on November 7, 2026, says the company now focuses exclusively on enterprise and studio partnerships: the Standard, Plus and Pro plans are retired and auto-renewals stopped on March 23, 2026. The $14.99 a month you still see on plenty of sites points to a plan that no longer exists.

Marey sold on two things. One was legal: a model its maker says was trained only on licensed footage. The other was directing: motion and pose transfer, drawn trajectories, camera moves driven from a single image. Which of the two you cared about changes the right replacement completely.

We kept five options and judged them on three points: what they promise about training data, how much control you get over a shot, and what a five-second shot actually costs. Imaginode is our product and sits first, but we're upfront about what it lacks, starting with any guarantee on training data.

Why look for a Moonvalley alternative

  • No more self-serve plans: since March 23, 2026, Moonvalley only sells to studios and enterprises through its sales team (moonvalley.com/selfserve, checked November 7, 2026).
  • Moonvalley's public API is still a waitlist, and ComfyUI's documentation marks its Moonvalley nodes as deprecated, stating the API is no longer available.
  • One model only: Marey Realism v1.5, released in July 2025, with no newer version announced since.
  • Few public reviews to judge quality: the only detailed scored review, from Curious Refuge, gave it 3.2 out of 10 (warping hands and faces, flicker during camera moves).

Each Moonvalley alternative in detail

1. Imaginode

Best for motion control without a sales call

$7 with no subscription, or $17/mo

Marey's motion transfer has a direct match in Imaginode: Kling 3.0 Motion Control takes an image plus a 3 to 30 second driving video, for 76 credits per 5 seconds at 720p (1 credit is about $0.012). Next to it, Veo 3.1 Lite costs 30 credits a shot and Wan 3.0 60, with up to 10 reference images. The Camera node sets the lens, angle and move, and voice, music and editing happen on the same canvas. What we don't have: hand-drawn trajectories, and above all any promise of licensed training data. Our models come from third-party labs.

2. Adobe Firefly

Best when your legal team requires licensed training data

Free plan, from $9.99/mo

This is the only real answer to Marey's legal pitch. Adobe's plans page says its Firefly models are trained on licensed and public domain content, that their outputs are safe for commercial use, and that eligible enterprise customers can get IP indemnification. One limit: the partner models offered inside Firefly (Google, OpenAI, Luma and others) aren't covered, and judging them is on you. On November 7, 2026, Firefly Standard cost $9.99 a month for 2,000 credits and 20 five-second videos, Pro $19.99 for 40, and only Premium at $199.99 unlocks unlimited generation with the Firefly Video Model.

3. fal.ai

Best for still using Marey itself

Pay as you go

Marey hasn't vanished everywhere. Its page on fal.ai is still live on November 7, 2026: $1.50 for a 5-second video and $3 for 10 seconds, pay per call, no subscription, still described as trained on licensed data. It's an API for developers, not an app with an editor, and we haven't run a generation there, so we can't promise it will still answer in six months, given Moonvalley already cut ComfyUI off.

4. Runway

Best for a full video suite with in-house models

Free plan, from $15/mo

Runway keeps its own models (Gen-4.5 at 60 credits per 5 seconds, Aleph 2.0 for editing existing footage) and adds others, Kling and Seedance among them. On November 7, 2026, Standard cost $15 a month ($12 billed yearly) for 625 credits, Pro $35 for 2,250, and the free plan gave 125 credits once. Its Act-Two tool transfers a filmed actor's performance onto a character, which partly covers Marey's pose transfer. Credits go fast: 625 of them buy about ten Gen-4.5 shots.

5. Luma Dream Machine

Best for image quality and reworking shots

from $10/mo

Luma builds its own Ray models (Ray3.2 and Ray3.14 on its November 7, 2026 pricing page) and also offers Veo 3.1, Kling and Seedance. Plus costs $30 a month ($25 billed yearly) for 10,000 credits with commercial use, Pro $90 for 40,000. The $10 entry plan and the free tier are gone from the page. Kling 3.0 Motion Control is billed per second there (45 credits at 720p). Luma makes no promise about its training data.

How to choose

Start with the awkward question: does your client or contract require a model trained on licensed data? If yes, go with Adobe Firefly's own models, or Moonvalley itself through its partner form if you're a studio. Nothing else on this list makes that promise, Imaginode included.

If directing was what you liked, run the same shot with a driving video through Kling 3.0 Motion Control (in Imaginode or on Luma) and through Act-Two on Runway. For everything else, stop betting on a single model: our guide to comparing video models on the same shot shows the method, and the pricing page lists plans and top-ups, whose credits never expire.

Frequently asked questions

Can you still subscribe to Moonvalley?

No. The Standard, Plus and Pro plans were retired, and auto-renewals stopped on March 23, 2026. Moonvalley now only works with studios and enterprises, through its sales team.

Is there another AI video model trained on licensed data?

The best known is Adobe's Firefly Video Model: Adobe says it's trained on licensed and public domain content, with IP indemnification available to eligible enterprise customers. Partner models offered inside Firefly aren't covered by that promise.

Where can I use Marey today?

On fal.ai, billed per call ($1.50 per 5 seconds on November 7, 2026), if you can call an API. The ComfyUI nodes no longer work, and Moonvalley's own API is a waitlist.

What's the best Moonvalley alternative for a solo creator?

A tool with open sign-up and several models: Imaginode, Runway or Luma. Imaginode gives 15 credits at sign-up to try it, no credit card needed, and shows the price of every shot before you click.
