Extend a video with Grok Imagine (prolonger)
Grok Imagine in extension mode continues an existing video from its last frame: you describe what happens next, the model generates the continuation in the source format, up to ten more seconds, with its soundtrack. The result is the added segment alone, to chain in the Edit node after the original, which lets you lengthen a shot that ends too soon or give it a punchline without regenerating everything. The source must last between two and eight seconds. The first-generation xAI Grok Imagine is the only model on the Gateway able to extend, its 1.5 version only doing image-to-video.

What extension does
A generated shot often stops too early: the character has not finished their gesture, the camera has not reached its mark. Grok Imagine (extend) takes an existing video, two to eight seconds long, and generates what happens next, starting from its last frame and keeping the format, framing and light. You describe the continuation in the prompt and choose how many seconds to add, from one to ten. The result is the added segment alone, not the whole video: it chains onto the original in the Montage node, for free, and the cut is clean since the first frame of the continuation is the last frame of the shot.
What it does and does not do
The model takes the aspect ratio of the source video, measured server-side, and renders at a definition close to the source: there is no resolution selector, because the model honors none, and Imaginode never shows a setting a model ignores. Sound is generated with the continuation. The prompt describes the action to come, not what is already in the shot: “she stops, turns to the camera and smiles” works better than a description of the scene. A source shorter than two seconds or longer than eight is refused before generation.
How it is billed
xAI charges per generated second, and Imaginode carries that rate over into credits, added second by added second: extending by three seconds costs less than extending by ten. The price shows on the button before you click, as soon as the video is wired and the duration set. A technical failure is refunded. It is one of the cheapest ways to get a long shot: generate five seconds on a premium model, then extend them here.

Yes: the generated continuation is a video like any other, and wires in turn into a Grok Imagine (extend) node. Each pass adds one to ten seconds, as long as the source to extend stays between two and eight seconds.
