Your selfie as a square Christmas profile picture: a Santa hat portrait by a lit fir tree, or a cartoon on red. Face centred for the circle, with the flaws shown.
Real workflow: a woman in a white T-shirt against a beige wall, then the same woman in a Santa hat and cream scarf by a lit fir tree, and her cartoon version in a green sweater on a red background with snowflakes. On the photo the hat hides the top of her eyebrows, and the cartoon added an eyeliner flick.

Every 1 November, part of TikTok swaps its profile picture for a Christmas one. That's the Christmas PFP, and the hashtag goes back to 2022. For 2026, makeviral.ai counts 76.8 million views on #christmaspfp by 3 November, a vendor's figure we haven't checked. This workflow makes the two looks you see most: the Santa hat photo by a fir tree, and the cartoon on a red background.
A profile picture gets looked at in a tiny circle, so the crop matters more than the scenery. Both prompts centre the face and leave room around the head. Nano Banana Pro kept the demo's eyes, freckles and hair. It still took liberties: the hat slides down over the eyebrows, and the cartoon adds an eyeliner flick the original photo doesn't have.
These are the files of the workflow above, exactly as the models produced them, unretouched. The starting point is shown when there is one.

Who it is for
People who want a Christmas profile picture for TikTok, Instagram or WhatsApp from a selfie, couples looking for two matching portraits, content creators getting their accounts ready for the holidays.
Which files to provide
A sharp, well lit selfie taken straight on, of you or of someone who agreed, and a description of their face and hair in the prompt. The photo is optional.
How it works
1
Take a sharp selfie straight on
Face level, good light, no filter. A crop at chest height is enough, since the model draws the hat and scarf.
2
Rewrite the face description
The prompts describe the demo's brown eyes, freckles and long straight hair. Put your own features in, or the model pulls your portrait towards the demo's.
3
Run the photo, the cartoon or both
Each node costs 19 credits. The photo works better on Instagram and LinkedIn, and the cartoon reads better at very small sizes, like on TikTok or Discord.
4
Try it in the circle
Upload the image to your app and look at it at its real size. If the pompom leaves the circle or the hat eats the forehead, ask for the hat higher on the head and run it again.
Variations and use cases
The same canvas, tuned for different needs: each variation is two or three lines of prompt away.
Santa hat photo or cartoon
The photo looks like you at first glance and keeps your skin, freckles and hair. The cartoon simplifies your features into clean flat shapes and stays readable on a tiny avatar. Run both and compare them at the size people will see them.
Matching pictures for a couple
In the trend, couples take two portraits in the same setting, one each. Run the template twice with each selfie and leave the prompt alone, changing only the face description. Not tested on the demo, and the other person has to agree.
Your dog or cat in the hat
Replace "the woman in this photo" with your pet, describe the coat and eye colour, and drop the makeup line. A hat can sit oddly on a muzzle, so ask for it placed between the ears. Not tested here.
A different cartoon background
Deep red pops, but it gets lost on a dark interface. Try fir green or midnight blue by changing one line in the cartoon prompt. The black outline stays readable on all three.
Glasses or a beard in your photo
Say so in the face description: "the same round glasses", "the same short greying beard". Without that line the model can remove or change them, especially in the cartoon, which simplifies everything.
A version that moves
Connect a Video node to the Santa hat portrait and describe a small movement: snow falling, lights twinkling. That clip suits a story, not a profile avatar. The demo stops at the two images, and video costs extra credits.
Common mistakes
Letting the pompom decide the crop
The pompom often hangs on the right, at the edge of the frame, and the profile circle can slice it off. Check the cropped image before you keep it, and ask for a shorter hat if you need to.
Leaving the demo's face description in
The prompts name brown eyes, freckles and long straight hair. If your hair is short and blond, change those lines, or the model blends the two faces.
Using someone's photo without asking
A profile picture stands for a person in front of all their contacts. Only use photos of people who said yes, and never one of a famous person.
Because a profile picture shows up tiny and round. A centred face stays readable, while a full length portrait turns into a red dot.
Is the image already cut into a circle?
No, it comes out square. Instagram, TikTok and the rest apply the circle when you upload. Our first try came out cut with white corners, which is why the prompt now bans the round mask.
Can I do this with my dog?
Yes, the pet version comes up a lot in this trend. Swap the woman for your pet in the prompt and describe the coat. We haven't tested this version on the demo.
How much do the two profile pictures cost?
38 credits, 19 per render on Nano Banana Pro. Running one image again costs 19 credits.
Can I pay less?
Yes, by switching the node to Nano Banana 2.1 in 1K, 7 credits per render. At a crop this tight, the face is less faithful. That's why the demo runs on Nano Banana Pro.
What size are the images?
2048 x 2048 pixels, square. That's far more than any app needs, since they shrink the image to a few dozen pixels anyway.
Why does the cartoon have eyeliner?
The original photo has no makeup and the cartoon prompt doesn't mention any. The model added it on its own. Write "no makeup, no eyeliner" to avoid it.
When should I switch to a Christmas profile picture?
No date is set in stone. On TikTok, plenty of people do it on 1 November, and others wait for December. You can also make the image now and post it whenever you like.
